1. Introduction

Welcome to Dear Cosmos ("the App"), a private cosmic oracle developed and operated by Believe PR, owned by Armando Jimenez. Dear Cosmos lets you ask the universe a question and receive an answer in its own voice, a first-person reply written in the tone you choose, accompanied by a living, tone-reactive cosmos and a small cosmic sign to carry with you.

Dear Cosmos is built around a quiet belief: the questions you bring are yours alone. We treat what you ask with the same care we hope it gives back to you.

2. Privacy-First Approach

2.1 Our Philosophy

The things people ask the universe are personal, so Dear Cosmos is built to ask for as little as possible. With Dear Cosmos we:

• ✓ Store all of your personal data locally on your device by default
• ✓ Use no advertising networks, no Google Analytics, no Firebase, and no third-party trackers
• ✓ Do not require user accounts, email addresses, or passwords
• ✓ Send only the question you ask (and the voice you picked) when you request an answer, with no profile or history built about you
• ✓ Keep no server-side copy of your journal, your saved answers, or your settings

2.2 What This Means for You

When you use Dear Cosmos:

• The questions you ask and the answers you receive stay on your phone, in "Your Cosmos"
• The answers you star or revisit stay on your phone
• Your chosen voice, theme, and reminder preference stay on your phone
• A daily message, if you turn it on, is scheduled locally by your device

Important: Because we never keep a copy of your journal, deleting Dear Cosmos will permanently remove your saved questions and answers. We cannot recover them, because we never had them.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Create (Stored On Your Device)

The following data is created by you and stored locally on your device:

• Your Cosmos (journal): The questions you ask, the answers the universe returns, the cosmic sign for each, and the date
• Stars: Answers you mark to find again
• Your voice: The most recent tone you selected (for example, Spiritual, Poetic, Stoic)
• Appearance: Your theme preference (System, Deep Void, or Daybreak)
• Daily message: Whether you have turned on the gentle daily reminder
• First-run state: Whether you have completed onboarding

3.2 What a Question Sends

Asking the universe a question is the only action that contacts a server. When you submit a question, the App sends the following to our AI Gateway so it can return an answer:

• The text of that one question and the voice (tone) you selected
• A random device identifier (a string generated on your device, not your name, email, or any account) used only to apply fair-use rate limits
• An app identifier and environment (for example, dev or prod) and a token that authorizes the App to use the Gateway
• Your IP address, as is technically necessary for any internet request

The Gateway, hosted on Cloudflare Workers, forwards your question to a model provider (currently OpenRouter, routing to the DeepSeek V4 Flash model) to compose the answer you read. The Gateway never receives your name, email, location, journal, or any other personal information. It only sees the question for that one answer.

3.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

Dear Cosmos explicitly does NOT collect or have access to:

• ✗ Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts
• ✗ Your precise location or GPS data
• ✗ A server-side copy of your journal, your stars, or your settings
• ✗ Your photos, camera, microphone, or files
• ✗ Health data or wellness metrics from any source
• ✗ Real-world financial data: Dear Cosmos does not connect to banks or any account
• ✗ Social media identities, friend lists, or third-party login data
• ✗ Advertising identifiers (IDFA or Google Advertising ID): Dear Cosmos has no advertising

4. How We Use Your Information

4.1 App Functionality (On-Device)

Your data is used entirely on your device to:

• Show the answer and cosmic sign for each question you ask
• Keep "Your Cosmos," your journal of past questions and answers
• Remember which answers you starred
• Apply your selected voice, theme, and appearance
• Schedule your local daily message, if you enabled it
• Show the latest sign on the home-screen widget, if you added one

4.2 Composing an Answer

The question you submit is used solely to compose that one answer and is not used for any other purpose. We do not retain it to train models, build a profile, or improve the service over time.

4.3 Operational Logs

The AI Gateway keeps minimal operational logs (timestamp, app identifier, environment, status code) for short-term abuse prevention and rate limiting. These logs are not linked to any user identity beyond an IP address and the random device identifier.

4.4 No Marketing, No Profiling

We do not use any of your information for marketing, profiling, behavioral advertising, or selling to third parties. There is no advertising in Dear Cosmos.

5. Data Storage & Security

5.1 Local Storage

Your personal data is stored on your device using:

• A local database inside the App's private storage sandbox, for your journal and stars
• Device key-value storage for preferences (voice, theme, daily message, onboarding)
• Operating-system data protection, which encrypts app files at rest on modern iOS and Android devices

5.2 Encryption

• At Rest: Data is protected by your device's file-system encryption, tied to your device passcode or lock
• In Transit: Every request to ask the universe a question uses HTTPS (TLS)

5.3 Security Practices

• The Gateway enforces per-device and per-IP rate limits to mitigate abuse
• Dear Cosmos does not include any analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs
• Dear Cosmos does not embed third-party web views that load outside content into the experience

5.4 Data Retention

• Your data remains on your device for as long as Dear Cosmos is installed
• You can delete individual entries at any time inside the App
• Deleting the App removes all locally stored data permanently
• Your question is not retained by Dear Cosmos or by the Gateway after the answer is returned

6. The AI Behind Your Answers

6.1 What It Is

When you ask the universe a question, the answer is composed by a large language model, written in the first person and shaped by the voice you chose. You decide whether to keep each answer in "Your Cosmos," star it, share it, or let it go.

6.2 How It Works

• You type a question and pick a voice in the App
• Dear Cosmos sends that question and voice to our AI Gateway over HTTPS
• The Gateway (Cloudflare Workers) forwards it to a model provider (currently OpenRouter, routing to DeepSeek V4 Flash)
• The model returns an answer and a cosmic sign, which Dear Cosmos displays to you
• The question is not retained, indexed, or used to build a profile

6.3 Privacy in AI Processing

• ✓ No name, email, or account is attached to the request. The Gateway has no idea who you are
• ✓ Your journal and stars are NEVER sent
• ✓ The Gateway does not retain prompt text after a response is returned
• ✓ Model providers process the question to generate a response in real time
• ⚠ The model provider receives only the question you typed and the voice you chose. Treat it like any other AI assistant input

Dear Cosmos is for reflection, encouragement, and a moment of wonder. It is a creative companion, not a substitute for professional advice. Its answers and signs are not predictions, fortune-telling, astrology, or medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice. If you are facing a real decision or a hard moment, please reach out to a qualified professional or one of the resources listed in section 16.

7. Notifications & Widget

7.1 The Daily Message (Local Only)

Dear Cosmos can send one gentle daily message if you choose to turn it on. These are local notifications scheduled by your device. There is no push-notification server, no token tied to an account, and no message travels through Believe PR's infrastructure to reach your device.

7.2 The Home-Screen Widget

If you add the Dear Cosmos widget to your home screen, it shows your latest cosmic sign or a quiet prompt to ask again. The widget reads a small snapshot stored locally on your device. It does not make its own network requests and does not transmit anything off your device.

7.3 You Are Always In Control

You can turn the daily message on or off inside Dear Cosmos, and you can disable notifications entirely in your device's system settings for the App. You can remove the widget at any time from your home screen.

8. App Permissions

8.1 Notifications (Optional)

• Purpose: To send your one gentle daily message at a calm time
• When Requested: Only when you turn the daily message on, after a short in-app explanation
• What We Send: A short message, scheduled locally by your device. Nothing leaves your device to deliver it

8.2 Permissions Dear Cosmos Does NOT Request

• ✗ Contacts
• ✗ Calendar
• ✗ Camera or Microphone
• ✗ Photo library (the App composes its own share images)
• ✗ Health or Apple Health / Health Connect
• ✗ Bluetooth
• ✗ Phone or SMS
• ✗ Tracking (App Tracking Transparency is not used, because Dear Cosmos does not track you)

8.3 Managing Permissions

You can manage all permissions in your device's system settings for Dear Cosmos. Revoking the notifications permission turns off the daily message; the rest of the App continues to work.

9. Third-Party Services

9.1 AI Gateway (Cloudflare Workers)

• Purpose: Routes your question to a model provider with rate limiting and basic safety handling
• What It Receives: Your question text, chosen voice, app identifier, environment, a random device identifier, IP address (technical), and an authorization token
• What It Stores: Minimal short-term operational logs (timestamps, status codes), not your question text after the answer is returned
• Provider Privacy: Cloudflare Privacy Policy

9.2 OpenRouter (Model Provider)

• Purpose: Routes the question to a language model (currently DeepSeek V4 Flash) to compose the answer
• What It Receives: Only the question text and chosen voice passed by the Gateway
• Provider Privacy: OpenRouter Privacy Policy

9.3 Apple App Store / Google Play

• Purpose: Distribution of the App and standard download handling
• What They Receive: Standard download and device data handled by Apple or Google, not by us
• Provider Privacy: Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy

9.4 No Advertising, No Analytics

Dear Cosmos does not include Google AdMob, Google Analytics, Firebase, the Facebook SDK, Mixpanel, Amplitude, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Sentry, or any other advertising, attribution, analytics, or crash-reporting SDK.

10. Future Monetization

Dear Cosmos is currently free and contains no purchases, subscriptions, or advertising. If an optional paid feature is introduced in the future:

• Any purchase would be processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by Believe PR, and your card details would stay with them
• This Privacy Policy would be updated to describe what, if anything, is processed, before the feature ships
• The privacy-first foundation described above (local storage, no analytics, no accounts) is our intended default

11. Your Privacy Rights

11.1 GDPR Rights (European Union / UK)

If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

• Right to Access: Request information about data processed about you
• Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
• Right to Object: Object to the processing of your data
• Right to Lodge a Complaint: With your local data-protection authority

11.2 CCPA / CPRA Rights (California)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CPRA.

11.3 How to Exercise Your Rights

Because almost all of your data lives on your own device:

• Access: Open Dear Cosmos. Your journal and stars are visible inside the App at any time
• Correction & Erasure: Delete entries directly inside the App, or delete the App to remove all local data
• Other Requests: Email dearcosmos@armandojimenez.dev with your request

We will respond to formal rights requests within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally within 30 days).

12. Children's Privacy

12.1 Age Requirement

Dear Cosmos is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used Dear Cosmos, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

12.2 Younger Teens

For users under 18, we recommend parental awareness. Dear Cosmos contains no chat with strangers, no public profile, and no advertising.

13. International Users

13.1 Where Data Lives

Your personal Dear Cosmos data lives on your device. When you ask a question, it is routed through Cloudflare's global network and processed by a model provider in real time. Believe PR operates from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (United States).

13.2 International Transfers

If you are located outside the United States, the question you submit may be processed in the United States or other countries where the AI provider operates. By asking a question, you consent to that processing for the purpose of returning an answer.

13.3 Regional Compliance

• European Union / UK: GDPR and UK GDPR
• California: CCPA and CPRA
• Brazil: LGPD
• Other Regions: We respect all applicable privacy laws

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, legal requirements, or third-party changes. When we make material changes:

• The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will change
• We will surface a notice inside the App where appropriate
• Your continued use of Dear Cosmos after the change becomes effective constitutes acceptance

The most current version is always available at this URL and from the Dear Cosmos settings.
