Unworried is a wellness application designed to help you build the personality trait of being cool under pressure. Describe what's on your mind, and receive an AI-generated fresh perspective to help you let go of worry and find peace in any moment.
- All your journal entries and perspectives stay on YOUR device
- We CANNOT access your personal entries or situations
- No user accounts or sign-ups required
- No ads, no tracking, no data selling
- Your emotional wellbeing data is yours alone
2. Privacy-First Approach
2.1 Our Philosophy
Unworried is built on a privacy-first foundation. We believe your thoughts, worries, and personal reflections should remain private. Unlike many apps, we:
- ✓ Store all data locally on your device
- ✓ Never upload your journal entries to our servers
- ✓ Don't require user accounts or email addresses
- ✓ Don't display advertisements
- ✓ Don't use analytics or tracking services
- ✓ Can't read your situations or perspectives
2.2 What This Means for You
When you use Unworried:
- Your situations and perspectives remain on your phone
- Your journal entries never leave your device (except briefly for AI processing)
- Your streak data stays local
- Your favorites and preferences are stored on-device
Important: If you delete the app without exporting your data, all your entries will be permanently lost. We cannot recover them because we never had access to them.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Create
All of the following data is stored locally on your device and NOT stored on our servers:
- Situations: The text you type describing what's on your mind (up to 2,000 characters)
- Perspectives: AI-generated responses stored locally after creation
- Favorites: Perspectives you mark as favorites
- Streak Data: Daily activity tracking (dates and counts)
- Preferences: Language choice, notification settings, reminder times
3.2 Information Processed Temporarily
When you request a new perspective, the following is sent temporarily to Google's Firebase AI service:
- Situation Text: Your typed description is sent to generate a perspective
- Language Preference: Your selected language (English or Spanish) for response generation
Note: This data is processed in real-time and is not stored on Google's servers beyond the immediate processing needed to generate the response. See Section 6 for details.
3.3 Automatically Collected Information
In production (release) builds only, Firebase Crashlytics may collect:
- Crash Reports: Technical error data (stack traces) when the app crashes
- Device Information: Device model, OS version (for debugging purposes only)
Note: Crash reports do NOT include your personal content, situations, or perspectives.
3.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do NOT collect or have access to:
- ✗ Your situations or perspective entries
- ✗ Personal identification information (name, email, phone, etc.)
- ✗ Location data
- ✗ Photos, camera, or microphone data
- ✗ Contacts or calendar data
- ✗ Browsing history or app usage analytics
- ✗ Advertising identifiers
- ✗ Health data from Apple Health or Google Fit
4. How We Use Your Information
4.1 App Functionality (On-Device)
Your data is used entirely on your device to:
- Display your journal of past perspectives
- Track your daily streaks
- Manage your favorite perspectives
- Send you local notification reminders
- Export your journal as CSV when you choose
- Share individual perspectives when you choose
4.2 AI Perspective Generation
When you submit a situation:
- Your text is sent to Google's Firebase AI (Gemini) to generate a fresh perspective
- The generated perspective is returned and saved locally on your device
- Your situation text is not stored on Google's servers beyond the processing session
4.3 App Improvement
Anonymous crash reports (production only) help us:
- Fix bugs and improve stability
- Optimize performance
Crash reports do NOT include your personal content or entries.
5. Data Storage & Security
5.1 Local Storage
All your personal data is stored on your device using:
- iOS: Secure app sandbox with iOS encryption
- Android: Internal app storage with Android security
- Database: Local SQLite database (unworried.sqlite)
5.2 Encryption
- At Rest: Your device's built-in encryption protects stored data
- In Transit: All communication with Firebase services uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
5.3 Security Measures
- No server-side storage of personal content
- Secure coding practices
- Minimal data transmission (only for AI perspective generation)
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
5.4 Data Retention
- Data remains on your device indefinitely until you delete it
- You can delete all data at any time via Settings → Delete All Data
- You can export your journal as CSV before deleting
- Deleting the app removes all local data permanently
6. AI-Powered Perspectives
6.1 How AI Works in Unworried
Unworried uses artificial intelligence to provide fresh perspectives on your situations:
- AI Model: Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite via Firebase AI
- Process: Your situation text is sent to Firebase AI, a perspective is generated, and the response is saved locally
- Content Safety: The AI model includes built-in content safety filtering
- Language: Perspectives are generated in your selected language (English or Spanish)
6.2 Privacy in AI Processing
Important privacy protections:
- ✓ Situation text is sent only when you tap to generate a perspective
- ✓ Data is processed in real-time and not stored by Google beyond the session
- ✓ Generated perspectives are saved locally on your device only
- ✓ No user profile or history is maintained on the server side
- ✓ Each request is independent with no user tracking
6.3 Limitations & Disclaimers
Unworried's AI-generated perspectives are:
- For self-reflection and personal growth purposes only
- Not a substitute for professional mental health care
- Not diagnostic tools
- Generated by AI and may not always be applicable to your situation

7. App Permissions
7.1 Required Permissions
Notifications
- Purpose: To send you daily reminders and streak notifications
- When Requested: During onboarding or when enabling reminders in Settings
- What We Send: Generic reminders ("Time to unworry")
- Privacy: Notifications are scheduled locally and don't contain your personal data
7.2 Permissions We DON'T Request
Unworried does NOT request:
- ✗ Camera access
- ✗ Photo library access
- ✗ Microphone access
- ✗ Location/GPS access
- ✗ Contacts access
- ✗ Calendar access
- ✗ Health data access
- ✗ Bluetooth access
7.3 Managing Permissions
You can manage notification permissions in your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Unworried → Notifications
- Android: Settings → Apps → Unworried → Notifications
Disabling notifications will not affect app functionality.

Unworried integrates the following third-party services:

We do NOT use third-party analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.) or advertising services (Google AdMob, etc.). The only data transmitted is for AI perspective generation and crash reporting.

If you are in the EU, you have the following rights:

- Right to Erasure: Delete individual entries or all data via Settings

Unworried is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
