Better Tomorrow is a mood tracking and journaling application designed to help you understand your emotional patterns, journal your thoughts, capture moments with photos and voice recordings, and gain AI-powered insights - all while keeping your most personal data private and secure on your device.

  • We CANNOT access your personal entries unless you choose cloud backup
  • AI insights are processed on-device (where supported)

2. Privacy-First Approach

2.1 Our Philosophy

Better Tomorrow is built on a privacy-first foundation. We believe your thoughts, feelings, and personal moments should remain private. Unlike many apps, we:

  • ✅ Store all data locally on your device by default
  • ✅ Process AI insights on-device when possible
  • ✅ Never upload your journals or moods to our servers
  • ✅ Give you full control over cloud backups
  • ✅ Don't require user accounts or email addresses
  • ✅ Can't read your journal entries or access your photos

2.2 What This Means for You

When you use Better Tomorrow:

  • Your mood logs remain on your phone
  • Your journal entries never leave your device (unless you enable backup)
  • Your photos are stored in your local app storage
  • Your voice recordings stay on your device
  • AI pattern analysis happens locally (when supported)

Important: If you delete the app without backing up, all your data will be permanently lost. We cannot recover it because we never had access to it.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Create

All of the following data is stored locally on your device and NOT transmitted to our servers:

  • Mood Entries: Your daily mood ratings, emotions, and feelings
  • Journal Entries: Your thoughts, reflections, and written journal content
  • Photos: Images you attach to mood entries or journal entries
  • Voice Recordings: Audio recordings you create for journal entries
  • Tags & Categories: Custom labels you create for organization
  • Patterns & Insights: AI-generated insights (processed locally)
  • Check-in History: Timestamps of when you logged moods
  • Reminders: Notification preferences and times

3.2 Automatically Collected Information

For free users, Google AdMob may collect:

  • Device Information: Device model, OS version, Advertising ID
  • Usage Data: App interactions for ad personalization
  • Technical Data: IP address (approximate location), crash logs

Note: Premium subscribers do not have Google AdMob active, so this data collection does not apply.

3.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do NOT collect or have access to:

  • ❌ Personal identification information (name, email, etc.)
  • ❌ Location data beyond approximate location for ads
  • ❌ Health data from Apple Health or Google Fit

4. How We Use Your Information

4.1 App Functionality (On-Device)

Your mood and journal data is used entirely on your device to:

  • Display your mood history and patterns
  • Generate AI-powered insights and trends
  • Create visualizations and charts
  • Send you check-in reminders
  • Provide personalized prompts
  • Search and filter your entries

4.2 Advertising (Free Version Only)

If you use the free version, Google AdMob uses collected data to:

  • Display relevant advertisements
  • Measure ad performance
  • Provide personalized ads (with your consent)
  • Prevent ad fraud

Your Content is NEVER Used for Ads: Your mood data, journals, photos, and recordings are never shared with advertisers or used for ad targeting.

4.3 App Improvement

Anonymous crash reports help us:

  • Fix bugs and improve stability
  • Optimize performance
  • Understand app usage patterns (anonymous only)

Crash reports do NOT include your personal content or entries.

5. Data Storage & Security

5.1 Local Storage

All your personal data is stored on your device using:

  • iOS: Secure app sandbox with iOS encryption
  • Android: Internal app storage with Android security
  • Database: Encrypted local database
  • Media Files: Secure local file system

5.2 Encryption

  • At Rest: Your device's built-in encryption protects stored data
  • Cloud Backup: Encrypted before upload to your cloud account
  • Photos & Audio: Stored with file system encryption

  • App is regularly security-tested
  • No server-side storage of personal content
  • Optional biometric lock (Face ID/Touch ID/Fingerprint)
  • Automatic session timeout
  • Secure coding practices

5.4 Data Retention

  • Data remains on your device indefinitely until you delete it
  • You can delete individual entries or all data at any time
  • Deleting the app removes all local data permanently
  • Cloud backups are retained according to your cloud provider's policies

Better Tomorrow uses artificial intelligence to provide insights and pattern recognition. Here's how it works:

  • On-Device Processing: When supported by your device, AI analysis happens entirely locally
  • Pattern Recognition: Identifies trends in your mood over time
  • Insights Generation: Provides suggestions and observations based on your data
  • Personalized Prompts: Generates journal prompts based on your mood patterns

Important privacy protections:

6.4 Opting Out of AI Features

You can disable AI insights in Settings if you prefer not to use them. The app will continue to function normally without AI features.

7. Optional Cloud Backup

7.1 How Cloud Backup Works

You have the option to backup your data to your own cloud storage:

  • iOS: iCloud (linked to your Apple ID)
  • Android: Google Drive (linked to your Google account)

Important: When you enable cloud backup, your data is uploaded to YOUR cloud account, not ours. We do not have access to your cloud storage.

7.2 What Gets Backed Up

When you enable cloud backup:

  • Mood entries and history
  • Journal entries and text
  • Photos (optionally)
  • Voice recordings (optionally)
  • Settings and preferences
  • AI insights and patterns

7.3 Backup Privacy & Security

  • Encryption: Data is encrypted before upload
  • Your Account: Stored in your personal cloud account
  • No Our Access: We cannot view or access your cloud data
  • Provider Policies: Subject to Apple iCloud or Google Drive privacy policies

7.4 Managing Backups

You can:

  • Enable or disable backup at any time in Settings
  • Choose what to backup (e.g., exclude photos/audio)
  • Manually trigger backups
  • Restore from backup when reinstalling
  • Delete cloud backups through your cloud provider

7.5 Backup Responsibility

Please note:

  • You are responsible for managing your cloud storage
  • Storage space used counts toward your cloud storage quota
  • We are not responsible for backup failures or data loss
  • Restoring from backup requires the same cloud account

8. App Permissions

8.1 Required Permissions

Better Tomorrow requests the following permissions:

Photo Library Access

  • Purpose: To attach photos to mood entries and journal entries
  • When Requested: When you tap to add a photo
  • What We Access: Only photos you explicitly select
  • Storage: Selected photos are copied to local app storage

Microphone Access

  • Purpose: To record voice journal entries
  • When Requested: When you tap the record button
  • What We Access: Audio input only while recording
  • Storage: Recordings saved locally in app storage

Notifications

  • Purpose: To send you check-in reminders
  • When Requested: On first launch or when setting reminders
  • What We Send: Generic reminders ("Time to check in")
  • Privacy: Notifications don't contain your mood data

8.2 Optional Permissions

Camera Access (Optional)

  • Purpose: To take photos directly within the app
  • When Requested: If you choose "Take Photo" instead of selecting from library
  • Alternative: You can always select photos from your library instead

8.3 Permissions We DON'T Request

Better Tomorrow does NOT request:

  • ❌ Contacts access
  • ❌ Calendar access
  • ❌ Health data access (Apple Health/Google Fit)
  • ❌ Bluetooth access
  • ❌ Phone/SMS access

8.4 Managing Permissions

You can manage all permissions in your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Better Tomorrow → Permissions
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Better Tomorrow → Permissions

Revoking permissions will limit related functionality but the app will continue to work.

9. Advertising

9.1 Google AdMob (Free Version Only)

The free version of Better Tomorrow displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob.

🔒 Your Personal Content is NEVER Used for Ads

Your mood entries, journal content, photos, and recordings are never:

  • Shared with Google AdMob
  • Used to target advertisements
  • Analyzed by advertising services
  • Sold or disclosed to third parties

9.2 What AdMob Collects

Google AdMob may collect:

  • Device identifiers (Advertising ID)
  • Approximate location (from IP address)
  • Ad interaction data
  • App usage patterns (not your content)

9.3 Opting Out of Personalized Ads

You can opt out of personalized advertising:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Disable
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization

You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests.

9.4 Ad-Free Experience

Upgrade to Better Tomorrow Premium to:

10. Subscriptions

10.1 Better Tomorrow Premium

We offer a premium subscription with the following benefits:

  • 📊 Advanced analytics and insights
  • ⏰ Unlimited custom reminders
  • 🔒 Enhanced privacy (no ad tracking)

10.2 Subscription Details

  • Billing: Monthly or annual billing cycles
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
  • Payment: Charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account
  • Cancellation: Cancel anytime in App Store or Play Store settings
  • Access: Premium features available immediately upon purchase

10.3 Managing Your Subscription

To manage or cancel:

  • iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Better Tomorrow
  • Android: Play Store → Subscriptions → Better Tomorrow

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

10.4 Free Trial (If Offered)

If a free trial is available:

  • Duration will be clearly stated at sign-up
  • Full subscription price will be charged after trial ends
  • Cancel during trial to avoid charges
  • One free trial per Apple ID or Google account

10.5 Refund Policy

Subscriptions are generally non-refundable. However, you may request a refund through:

11. Third-Party Services

We do NOT use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics to track your usage. The only data collected is through Google AdMob (free version) for advertising purposes.
